WE BELIEVE

that by working internationally, we can promote the status of theatre for children and young people globally and in our own country. By studying theatre abroad we learn to recognise our own potential and obstacles. Being part of an international movement gives us a perspective on our work in Sweden. International exchange means that we can contribute towards understanding of cultural and social differences.

We work to ensure that our youngest citizens have the right to high-quality theatre that challenges perceptions and opens up new perspectives. We believe in a dramatic art created with heart and mind that helps children and young people grow and develop in a positive, empathetic and truly humanistic spirit.

IN SWEDEN

We are a platform for people working with or interested in theatre for children and young people. ASSITEJ’s members are actors, directors, stage designers and dramatists, as well as theatre companies, organisations and institutions, critics and cultural journalists, culture officers, amateur drama groups, organisers and societies.

IN THE NORDIC AND BALTIC COUNTRIES

We organise several joint projects, exchanges of productions, festivals, workshops and seminars together with ASSITEJ centres in the other Nordic and Baltic countries.

GLOBALLY

Swedish ASSITEJ works to promote the awareness of Swedish theatre for children and young people, by organising exchanges and guest performances and facilitating contacts. As a member, you have access to a global network of information about festivals, courses and seminars all over the world. You can also contact the ASSITEJ centre in each respective country if you require more information or useful contacts.
